Entry #9 This is a full Playthrough of the Pal Version of the NES Classic Super Mario Bros 2. The Pal version of Super Mario Bros 2 has corrected the music for the 50 Hz regions (it might play just a little bit too slow, but it isn't really noticeable for the casual player). As we all know by now, Super Mario Bros 2 for the Nes is a graphical hack of a japanese only game called Yume Kojo: Doki Doki Panic (can be translated to Dream World: Heart Pounding Panic). However, Doki Doki Panic actually started development as a Mario prototype but was put on hold. Fuji Television then approached Nintendo to develop an arabic themed platform game for them. And so Nintendo decided to take the prototype they had on hold for the time and developed this game which became Doki Doki Panic. Meanwhile Nintendo was trying to loacalise the successor to Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 2: For Super Players outside of Japan. However, the localization team of America thought that the game was too hard for american players and would damage the reputation of Super Mario. And so, a request was sent to Japan to create a completly different game. Nintendo then took a look at the recently released game Doki Doki Panic and decided to replace the playable characters with Mario characters and thus, the international version of Super Mario Bros 2 was created and the rest is history. The Game was played on an original European NES Model. I used the original controllers. The Gameplay was recorded with a Samsung DVD/Video Cassette Recorder using the standard Composite Video cables.
