Join me on Patreon: / kategrarock or please consider becoming a channel Member: / @kategrarock Today I’m hiking in the ACT a couple of hours from Canberra. Our goal is wild camping near Mount Gingera in the Bimberi Wilderness. The weather forecast looks like there could be a thunderstorm but we have packed for the conditions and keen to get out there. My hiking buddy is Sophie (Elsie’s sister). This is a beautiful Australian hiking trip. I'm an ultralight hiker and my pack weight with 3 kg of water was 8kg. This is a rather simple hike about 7.5km one way - many people do it as a day hike, but we wanted to sit up high and watch the sun set and rise- check out some track notes here: https://australianhiker.com.au/trails... To camp in the e Bimberi Wilderness you need a permit as places are limited to protect the area. After a lot of Googling I just called Namadgi Visitor Centre and the lovely ranger took my details and then emailed me my permit. So easy, their number is (02) 6237 5307 The wildflowers on this hike were absolutely amazing. If the conditions turn bad there is a hut about half way along the trail. I acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of this land, I pay my respect to Elders past and present.
