Panel: Creating Communities for Change - Ensuring an Equitable and Inclusive Nation of Makers The promise of the maker movement is that it is open to all and available as a mechanism to facilitate equity in education, the creation of jobs and pathways to economic growth and stability for individuals in all communities, including those who have been disenfranchised or otherwise marginalized. However, this has not largely been the case for many communities, most especially, communities of color. Panelists will discuss the ways that their maker organizations have engaged in regenerative community building, share best practices for inclusion and equity in the work they do as maker organizations, and suggest policies and actions that can be implemented to further the formation of truly inclusive and equitable communities. Moderator: Dorothy Jones-Davis - Nation of Makers Panelists: Will Holman - Open Works (Baltimore, MD) Rachel Saad - Ace Makerspace (formerly Ace Monster Toys; Oakland, CA) J.R. Logan - Make Haven (New Haven, CT) Demetrius Norman - NWLA Makerspace (Shreveport, LA) Sonya Pryor-Jones - Fab Foundation (Global)
