In this video I explore how building tiles have enough stability to be placed. For gamers building their base on the ground and have a lot of foundation tiles, this probably will not be an issue. However, intrepid cliff dwellers may experience a lot of frustration trying to build far above ground level. I detail which building blocks (tiles) can be 'grounded' and how these tiles support the the tiles around them. Foundation/pillar/column tiles are only able to support other building tiles within a certain distance. I introduce the idea of a 'step count' to track how many units away a grounded tile can support. I investigate building horizontally, vertically down, and even some limitations when building up. Building down with hanging units was the most difficult to pin down as there is a component of lateral support that is helping to hold suspended tiles. My study of this topic was centered on the extreme case of having only one foundation block attached to the side of a cliff wall. Greater and overlapping regions of stability are easily achieved with more grounded foundations. This video incorporates visual aids and animations to assist in communicating the information.
