WEEK ONE HUNDRED SIXTEEN: Dec 24 2025 ( actually 148 ) Week 69 ( German Folk Songs ) We are showcasing the latest acquisition - from the Rhine Valley of Germany comes the Rheingold/Rheinpfeil TEE Express. This is a 1965-1970 #1347 S Fleischmann® Cream over Blue E10 1311 BoBo Locomotive. It will pull three 1966 - 1970 Fleischmann® #1500 R beige over ocean blue 1st class coaches. Two early designs and one late, and one of the early designs has seen a great deal of use. They are illuminated, and one has installed FL #79 - end coach warning lights. ( F.R.E.D to us in the U.S.A. ) We are reminiscing from Week 36 with the FL BR 112 310-8 TEE locomotive. The models share the same mechanicals, only the livery has been changed. And we will use this to pull the camera around the loop. For Part Two, of course, we will add the Fleischmann® #5569 DB Flat Wagon with simulated load that is actually a track cleaner. We are using a first generation model as the brass track cleaning wheels are parallel, not staggered, to each other. The DB’s E10 was designed in 1950 to replace the E 44 and went into service in 1952. It was renumbered to BR 110 in 1968. The first series was designed for fast passenger express work with a top speed of 150kph ( 93.2mph ), our scale model achieved 126.27kph ( 78.46mph ) at 50% power around my loop. The Rheingold/Rheinpfeil versions had improved mechanics and aerodynamics to allow for speeds up to 160kph ( 99mph ). They were painted ‘cobalt blue’ until 1974, when the ‘beige over ocean blue’ color scheme was adopted. So, how DID Fleischmann® paint their 1965 model in a 1974 scheme?
