Michigan Construction Career Days 2022!

In 2022, the Michigan Construction Career Days - the largest hands-on Construction Career Fair in Michigan - returned to an in-person event and welcomed a record 4,000+ seventh through twelfth graders to visit the 600-acre Operating Engineers 324 Construction Career Center in Howell, Michigan for a day of learning about the skilled trades and careers in the construction industry! Schools from all over Michigan participated and brought their students to speak to skilled professionals, journeypersons, apprentices, college representatives, industry experts and more. Most importantly, students got to try their hand at some of the different careers that make up the construction industry. They learned what electricians, sheet metal workers, carpenters, bricklayers, ironworkers, operating engineers, and many other trades do by doing it themselves - building a wall, driving nails, wiring an outlet, and of course, operating the heavy equipment that is building Michigan! We were also visited by many dignitaries, including the Governor of Michigan Gretchen Whitmer.! With the help and support of many contractor partners, industry organizations, colleges, and skilled trades organizations, the 2022 Construction Career Days was the best ever and continues to grow, teaching students about the amazing, rewarding careers possible in the construction industry!
