Maurice de Vlaminck. Rebell der Moderne Die Ausstellung „Maurice de Vlaminck. Rebell der Moderne“ ist die erste postume Retrospektive, die dem Fauvisten und prägenden Künstler der französischen Avantgarde an einem deutschen Museum zuteilwird. Anhand von 73 ausgewählten Exponaten vermittelt sie einen weitläufigen Überblick über Vlamincks gesamtes malerisches Œuvre: von seinen ersten, zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts ausgeführten Kompositionen, über seine von Cézanne und Picasso inspirierten Experimente mit dem Kubismus, bis zu seinen letzten Landschaftsbildern, in denen er eine höchst individuelle Spielart des Spätimpressionismus entwickelte. Ausgangspunkt für die Ausstellung in Potsdam ist die Sammlung Hasso Plattner, die über neun Arbeiten Vlamincks verfügt, darunter vier Schlüsselwerke aus seiner fauvistischen Hochphase. Zu den rund 40 internationalen Leihgebern gehören u. a. die Tate Modern in London, das Museo nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid, das Centre Pompidou und das Musée d’Orsay in Paris sowie das Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, das Dallas Museum of Art und die National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Eine Ausstellung des Museums Barberini, Potsdam, und des Von der Heydt-Museums, Wuppertal, wo die Ausstellung vom 16. Februar bis zum 18. Mai 2025 zu sehen sein wird. // Maurice de Vlaminck: Modern Art Rebel The exhibition “Maurice de Vlaminck: Modern Art Rebel” is the first posthumous retrospective devoted to the Fauvist and influential artist of the French avant-garde in a German museum. With 73 selected exhibits, it provides a broad overview of Vlaminck's entire painting oeuvre: from his first compositions executed at the beginning of the 20th century, through his experiments with Cubism inspired by Cézanne and Picasso, to his last landscape paintings, in which he developed a highly individual variety of Late Impressionism. The starting point for the exhibition in Potsdam is the Hasso Plattner Collection, which has nine works by Vlaminck, including four key works from his Fauvist heyday. The approximately 40 international lenders include the Tate Modern in London, the Museo nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid, the Centre Pompidou and the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, as well as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Dallas Museum of Art and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. An exhibition of the Museum Barberini, Potsdam, and the Von der Heydt Museum, Wuppertal, where the exhibition will be on view from February 16, to May 18, 2025.
