DEACONS RETREAT - SESSION 4 📖WORD OF GOD BY SENIOR PASTOR SEPILIANO SULUAPE PAULO ✝️THEME: PUNCTUALITY 📅06-02-2026 📖Reader of Scriptures: Pastor Leauma Tanielu 📍Halleluiah Worship Centre Otahuhu 12 Queen St, Otahuhu, Auckland, New Zealand PUNCTUALITY. Punctuality is a habit that will take you far in life. 1️⃣ Being on time is a sign of respect, responsibility, and maturity. 2️⃣ When you are punctual, you show that you value your responsibilities and respect the time of others. 3️⃣ While being punctual normally implies certain personality traits such as reliability, conscientiousness and discipline. Punctuality makes it clear that your relationship with time can tell you a thing or two about who you are ✦ Remember the golden rule: "Early is on time, and on time is late." ▫ This means that being on time is simply not enough - you need to arrive early to avoid any delays or technical difficulties that might disrupt the school. Punctuality and good time management are skill demanded 1️⃣ Being late has the ability to negatively affect whole teams, disrupting meetings and giving yourself and others a reputation for being unprofessional. 2️⃣ Learning to be punctual will benefit your career immensely. ✦ Here are our tips on how to improve your punctuality. 1️⃣ Punctuality will show you’re reliable and serious, and will always play a positive role should you want to be considered for more senior positions. 2️⃣ Being punctual will show colleagues that you’re committed to the work you do, and the people your organisation serves. 3️⃣ It shows you’re dedicated not just to doing the job, but doing a great job, and that you understand that a reputation matters. 4️⃣ Being Late – stressful THE PSYCHOLOGY OF TIME RESPECT. 1️⃣ Punctuality isn't really about time—it's about respect. 2️⃣ When you show up on time, you're communicating that you value the other person's schedule as much as your own. 3️⃣ When you're late, regardless of your excuse, you're saying their time is less important than whatever delayed you. Punctuality influences perceptions of other qualities like competence, reliability, and professionalism The Neuroscience of Being Early ✦ Punctual people develop stronger executive function networks—the parts of the brain responsible for planning, decision-making, and impulse control. They literally become better at managing their lives in all areas, not just time. ✦ People who are frequently late have their cortisol levels remain elevated, which impairs memory, reduces creativity, and makes them more prone to poor decisions. ✦ Being late actually makes you less reliable by damaging the cognitive functions. The Early Arrival Advantage: When you arrive 5-10 minutes early, 1️⃣ Your brain has time to transition into the new environment. 2️⃣ You can observe the room. 3️⃣ Collect your thoughts. 4️⃣ Enter conversations from a calm, centered state rather than the scattered energy that comes with rushing What Punctuality Really Signals Punctuality is a form of social communication that transcends words. Here's what different arrival patterns communicate: ➡ Arriving 10-15 minutes early: Shows enthusiasm and respect. ➡ Arriving 5 minutes early: Shows planning and respect. ➡ Arriving exactly on time: Professional and respectful, though it can suggest you're cutting things close. ➡ Arriving 5-10 minutes late: Communicates poor planning or that this commitment isn't a priority. ➡ Arriving 15+ minutes late: Says that your time is more valuable than others, regardless of your intention. The Compound Effect of Punctuality ✦ The benefits of punctuality compound over time. Each on-time arrival builds your reputation incrementally. After months or years, you become known as someone who can be counted on—a reputation that opens doors in ways you might not even notice. ✦ Trust accumulation: Every punctual arrival is a small deposit in the trust bank. Over time, this accumulated reliability gives you credibility when things matter most. ✦ Reduced decision fatigue: When punctuality becomes habitual, you stop having to think about when to leave, what route to take, or whether you have enough time. Your brain can focus on more important decisions. ✦ Stress reduction: Punctual people experience less chronic stress, which improves everything from sleep quality to immune function to creative thinking. The Professional Cost of Lateness. ✦ A study of 10,000 professionals by Harvard Business Review found that people who are consistently 5+ minutes late to meetings are 32% less likely to receive promotions and earn an average of $12,000 less annually than their punctual peers. The researchers concluded that lateness serves as a proxy for other professional qualities—if someone can't manage their schedule, how can they manage larger responsibilities? ➡ PASSION – KEY. ➡ If you have the Passion for the Lord, you will always arrive on time. ➡ Early is on time. ➡ On time is Late. To God be the Glory forever and ever... Amen.
