Follow along with me as I sprout mung beans in just a few days in a colander (strainer). Very easy to do, and so quick!!! The mung bean (Vigna Radiata) is a plant species in the legume family, and mainly cultivated in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, China, Korea, South Asia and Southeast Asia. It is used as an ingredient in both savory and sweet dishes. As a sprout they are sometimes just called "bean sprouts". They can be stir fried as in Chinese recipes, usually with garlic, ginger, spring onions, or pieces of salted dried fish to add flavor. Uncooked they can be tossed into a fresh salad or used in a filling for Vietnamese spring rolls, as well as a garnish for phở. They are very easy to sprout, as you can see in my video.
