This episode covers September–October 1937 in a solo World in Flames 5th Edition campaign using Days of Decision 3. The political phase begins with bidding order led by Italy, Germany, Japan, the USSR, the Commonwealth, France, the US, and China. Italy makes a minor economic agreement with Spain to gain a resource (raising Italy’s access to six) and activates Yugoslavia to block Allied influence. Germany, Japan, the USSR, the Commonwealth, and the US each take “0G” actions to bank bid points and activate minors: Germany activates Norway, Japan activates Persia, the USSR activates Finland, the Commonwealth activates Sweden, and the US activates Spain. France holds national elections (setting up the next election window for Sep–Oct 1938) and activates the Netherlands to remove a negative modifier and keep it neutral; the political turn ends before China can act. In the action phase, reinforcements arrive for several powers, including French infantry and fighters, British fighters and convoy placement toward Australia, US carriers Lexington and Yorktown (placed on the US West Coast), German aircraft, Chinese Communist and Japanese units, and Soviet infantry and aircraft. Weather is favorable for Japan (clear in China). Japan conducts ground strikes and air combat over Beijing, destroying the Chinese Air Force but losing a Japanese fighter; the bomber strike fails to flip Chinese units. Japan then attacks Beijing at 4:1, taking the city but losing an infantry army while China loses two armies. The fall of Beijing triggers +4 US entry against Japan. Japan also attempts a southern amphibious landing/attack, capturing Shaman but losing a Marine while the other is flipped, opening a second front but limiting exploitation due to the attack cap. Allied moves focus on shoring up China’s collapsing lines, repositioning Nationalist and Communist forces under constraints, and limited Soviet and Commonwealth redeployments. The impulse sequence runs long with additional shuffling as attacks are exhausted. In end phases, no partisans appear and the US entry roll produces no additional result, but the “Resources to China” option is taken (costing US entry). Production follows: the US builds a light surface ship; the Commonwealth builds an aircraft carrier (Furious/Ark Royal); France builds an infantry corps and a tactical bomber; the USSR builds a tank army; China builds two infantry; Germany builds a strategic bomber, a submarine, and an infantry; Italy builds nothing; Japan rebuilds a Marine and starts a light surface unit. The episode ends with return-to-base and reorganization, setting up November–December 1937 with China under heavy pressure and weather potentially decisive for Japan’s momentum. 00:00 Welcome Back to the War Room: Setting the Stage (Sep–Oct 1937) 01:28 Frontline Check-in: Japan’s Rapid Advance in China 02:26 Political Bidding Order Revealed: Who Acts First? 03:57 Italy’s Play: Economic Deal with Spain + Yugoslavia Activated 08:38 Germany Banks Influence: Zero-G Bid Points & Norway Activation 10:38 Japan Consolidates: Zero-G Build-Up & Persia Activated 12:55 Soviets Recover After the Purge: Zero-G + Finland Activated 14:48 Allies Play It Safe: Commonwealth Zero-G & Sweden Activated 16:41 France Goes to the Polls: Election + Netherlands Activated 19:24 USA Stays Neutral (for Now): Zero-G + Spain Activated 21:49 China Shut Out of Politics: Bid Point Struggles & What They Need 23:06 Action Phase Begins: Initiative Gamble, Weather Roll, Reinforcements 32:32 Axis Offensive Opens: Japan’s Ground Strikes & Battle for Beijing 41:33 Japan Weighs Attacks & US Entry Jumps After Peking Falls 44:39 Allied Impulse: Soviet Tracker Moves & UK Shifts Forces Toward Malta/Africa 46:38 China Scrambles a Defensive Line: Limited Moves, Rails, and Hard Choices 50:56 Japan’s Second Impulse: Kaga Ground Strike & Marine Assault in the South 54:35 Axis/Allies Shuffle: Italy to Africa, Germany Repositions, China Survives on Attack Limits 59:44 Late-Turn China Crisis: Communist/Nationalist Stacking Rules & Holding the Resource 01:05:54 Turn Wrap-Up: Partisans, US Entry Option ‘Resources to China’ 01:09:24 Production Phase Shopping List: US/UK/France/USSR/China/Germany/Japan Builds 01:21:27 Return to Base & Final Reorg: Weather Outlook and End of Sep–Oct 1937
