This episode covers the Nov–Dec 1937 turn in a World in Flames/Days of Decision playthrough. After recapping Japan’s advances in China and Beijing’s fall, the game moves through a lengthy political phase driven by multiple 0G actions. Germany signs another minor economic agreement with Romania to secure resources and money, while the US spends heavily to raise its political effectiveness to 3 and activates Portugal. Italy and the Commonwealth both take 0G to bank bid points; Italy activates Hungary, the Commonwealth activates Romania to counter German influence, Japan and the Soviet Union also take 0G while consolidating, and France uses 0G to rebuild political reserves and activates Turkey to encourage neutrality. China takes no political action but accumulates bid points for future options like modernization or internal power-sharing. In the military and reinforcement stages, new units arrive: China gains a communist infantry, Japan gains a fighter, France gains an army corps and a fighter, the US receives a light surface naval unit, Germany receives an armored corps, and the Commonwealth gains a transport. Japan rerolls for initiative, gets Axis initiative and excellent weather (6), and launches two major assaults in China. Japanese attacks destroy multiple Chinese armies, seize the Chinese city of Chenin and later occupy additional cities (including Nan), increasing US Entry against Japan significantly (eventually reaching 21 before later adjustments). Japan also advances into the port city of Xiamen, rebases aircraft, and continues pushing along the coast, while China shifts units to delay collapse and protect resources, constrained by limited movement. In the end phase, US Entry is rolled with a net reduction, and the US chooses to impose an embargo on strategic materials to cut resources sent to Japan in future turns. Production follows: the Commonwealth builds an Australian light surface unit; France builds infantry; the Soviet Union builds infantry; China builds infantry; Germany builds another strategic bomber, infantry, and a fighter; Italy builds a light surface unit; and Japan builds an HQ and two infantry. The episode ends with Japan reorganizing after its breakthroughs, China bracing for reinforcements next turn, and the campaign transitioning into the opening of 1938. 00:00 Back in the War Room: 1937 Tension & China Recap 02:38 Setting the Stage: China Frontlines and the League of Nations ‘Optimism’ 03:35 Political Phase Begins: Bids, Initiative Order, and Germany’s First Move 05:12 Germany Courts Romania: Resources, Influence Math, and Minor Activations 09:33 USA Powers Up: Political Effectiveness Boost & Portugal Activated 13:25 Italy & Hungary: Zero-Gear Up and Shifting Balkan Influence 16:06 Commonwealth Responds: Banking Bid Points and Countering Germany in Romania 19:09 Japan & USSR Consolidate: More Zero-Gear Ups and Minor Activations 23:37 France Rebuilds: Turkey Neutrality Play and Political Turn Wrap-Up 26:39 Military Phase: Reinforcements Hit the Board (Nov–Dec 1937) 30:58 Initiative & Weather Roll: Japan Pushes for Axis Momentum 32:50 Japan Strikes in China: Shore Bombardment, Paratroops, and City Falls 39:12 Japan Smashes the Chinese Line: Ground Strike & Devastating Assault Roll 40:31 Axis Repositioning & Strategic Calm in Europe (No Spain, Watching Yugoslavia) 41:54 Chinese Emergency Redeployments: Shoring Up the Front & Mao’s Defensive Line 43:18 Soviet Border Posturing + Commonwealth Naval Transfers Begin 45:28 Japan Exploits Open Ground: Marines Take Xiamen & US Entry Jumps 47:38 Allied Counter-Moves: Reinforcing China, Desert Drills, and Holding On 49:53 Axis Third Impulse: Japan Pushes HQ/Air North; Italy Secures Libya 52:27 China Trades Space for Time as the Turn Refuses to End 59:11 Japan Grabs More Ports—But US Outrage Skyrockets 01:01:57 End of Action Phase: Partisans, US Entry Roll, and the Strategic Embargo 01:05:34 Production Phase Shopping List: Infantry Spam, Bombers, and New Ships 01:16:24 Return to Base, Reorganization, and 1937 Wrap-Up (Setting Up 1938)
