Beighton Score is out of 9 Little fingers - If they bend back beyond 90 degrees, R = 1 L = 1 Thumbs - If it touches your forearm, R = 1 L = 1 Elbows - If they bend back beyond 10 degrees past straight, R = 1 L = 1 Spine - Bend forwards, knees straight, if you can place your hands flat on the floor = 1 Generalised Joint Hypermobility = A positive Beighton Score Adults: If you score 5/9 or more, you have a positive beighton score. Children aged 5 and over: If you score 6/9 or more, you have a positive beighton score. ** The beighton score only measures 9 areas in the body. You may be hypermobility or have a connective tissue disorder such as EDS if you have other hypermobile joints e.g. Shoulders, Ankles, fingers and other symptoms.
