Christmas 1915 / Silent Night by Camilla Griehsel with Ilen Vibe Choir, recorded at Abbeystrewry Church, Skibbereen on Sunday 15th December 2019 at a charity concert Ilen Vibe Choir hosted in aid of West Cork Women Against Violence Project. Camilla Griehsel, from Sweden, now living in Schull, West Cork, is a graduate of the prestigious Adolf Frederik Music School in Stockholm. In her early twenties she was in a Norwegian pop group called 'One 2 Many' and later trained as a lyric soprano at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. She has sung all over the world in many languages and since settling in West Cork has worked on many wonderful collaborations with talented local musicians. Most recently she has been touring her beautiful show, Mamasongue. Camilla was one of three guest soloists who joined us for our Christmas concert and brought her special magic to the occasion. We loved working with her on this song. Apologies about the title at the start of the video - nothing to do with Fergus O'Farrell, his is the next song of the concert. The concert featured the ladies of Ilen Vibe, under the leadership of Niamh McCarthy, and a band consisting of Maurice Seezer on piano, John Fitzgerald on bass, Ronan Archbold (Archie) on guitar and Anthony Noonan on percussion. Guest soloists – Paula K O’Brien, Marybeth O’Mahony and Camilla Griehsel Sound – Daragh Murphy Video production - John-Lawrence Fagan, Freelance Videographer, http://www.johnlmedia.com and Dominic Casey, Marsh Media Ilen Vibe is a group of women who love to sing. Founded in November 2017, the choir is based at Church Cross, Skibbereen, on the banks of the Ilen River which has produced Olympic and World Champion rowers. We like to think our singing embodies the spirit of the area, hence the name. Ilen Vibe is all about joy and fun; we don’t take ourselves too seriously but we take our singing very seriously!
