Even after the initial road closures there were still hazards in the burn areas such as a subsequent rainstorm, which created the risk of mudslides. Today, recovery efforts are transitioning to the rebuilding phase with a focus on fast-tracking reconstruction. However, the rebuilding process faces challenges such as navigating insurance claims, concerns about soil quality, permit complexities, and potential labor shortages.
