5th Anniversary of BIPOC Brainspotting - Masterclass - An interview with David Grand, PhD

This video is an interview with David Grand, PhD, Founder and Developer of Brainspotting as he talks with John R. Edwards, LCSW, International Brainspotting Trainer and Father of BIPOC Brainspotting Nation, about the Brainspotting Masterclass. In January of March of 2019, I, John R. Edwards, LCSW, attended a Brainspotting Masterclass with David Grand, PhD, the Founder and Developer of Brainspotting. I was a fairly new Brainspotting practitioner who had completed Brainspotting Phase 1 training about 1 year prior.During a discussion period in the Brainspotting Masterclass, the issue of working with BIPOC and other marginalized communities came up. One person in the audience stated that she wished she was a Person of Color. As POCs we are often confronted with these types of statements or worse in trainings. In this moment, I said to all present that I really wished there was a space for BIPOC only trainings. A seed was planted. David Grand and I began a series of discussions that lead to the first BIPOC Brainspotting Phase 1 training in December 2019 in Atlanta, GA, USA. That training was called a Clinicians of Color Brainspotting training. This is the Quinquennial Celebration, 5 Years of BIPOC Brainspotting. A road well traveled with more joy, successes, connections and healing than I ever could have imagined. We celebrate 5 years of BIPOC Brainspotting February, 27th, 28th and March 1st, 2025 at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites, Atlanta Airport West, Camp Creek, Atlanta, GA.
