The Hotel Nesslerhof in Grossarl, Austria, is a 5-star hotel in the Salzburg Alps. The Nesslerhof sees itself as a wellness and gourmet hotel. The valley station of the Kieserlbahn gondola lift is right opposite the hotel. This gives you direct access to the Grossarltal-Dorfgastein ski area, which is part of the Ski amadé ski network. In 2011, the Neudegger family opened the Hotel Nesslerhof. In the following years, the hotel was expanded and remodeled several times. Traditional Austrian elements were combined with contemporary design. The newest building from 2023 is called "1643" because the Nesslerhof was first mentioned in 1643. Today, the Nesslerhof has 86 modern and stylishly furnished rooms and suites. There are several restaurant rooms and a bar. Everything is designed with lots of wood and natural stone. The wellness area is very spacious. There are eight relaxation rooms, five saunas and steam baths, an indoor pool with an adjacent outdoor pool, and an outdoor saltwater pool. A lounger is provided for each guest, so the annoying "reserve loungers with a towel" is completely unnecessary! In summer you could also use the natural swimming pond and the large garden, now in winter the pond is frozen over and the garden is covered in deep snow. The spa area offers a wide range of beauty and wellness treatments. Those who want to exercise can work out in the fitness room with various treadmills, ergometers, cross trainers and weight stations. There is a playroom for younger guests and a ski room for winter sports enthusiasts, which serves as a bicycle room in summer. Our room is a double room "Lebensfreude" in the new building "1643". It is very spacious and furnished in a friendly and modern way with lots of wood. The bathroom is open plan. The room rate includes all-round culinary supply. The day begins with a rich breakfast. In the afternoon, the snack buffet tempts you with soups, salads, cakes and small dishes, tea and coffee are also included. And in the evening, a delicious 5-course evening meal with a variety of options awaits us. If you can't find anything on the evening menu, you can alternatively choose from the à la carte menu and have a real Wiener Schnitzel served to you, for example. Once a week there is an appetizer buffet and a dessert buffet. A big plus for skiers is the location directly next to the Kieserlbahn gondola lift. The Grossarltal-Dorfgastein ski area offers around 70 varied kilometers of slopes. And the ski pass is also valid in the entire Ski amadé area, a large network of 25 winter sports resorts with a total of around 760 kilometers of slopes! The local ski area was enough for us, but if you're looking for variety, Ski amadé has all the options. But Grossarl is also a destination for winter hikers. Our room was nice and quiet, and we didn't hear anything from the neighboring rooms either. There were also enough cupboards and storage space. The location right next to the Kieserlbahn gondola lift is perfect for winter sports enthusiasts. The food was very good overall. The salad buffet could have done with a bit more variety for our taste. But that's complaining at a high level, we've put on weight!😊 And intolerances were well taken into account, there was always an alternative. The wellness area is very nice. The treatments in the spa area were also good and relaxing. We didn't like this so much: The open bathroom in the room! Unfortunately, there was no other room available at the time of our booking, otherwise we would have preferred a room with an enclosed bathroom. Unfortunately, this architectural concept has never convinced us anywhere. Yes, it looks good, appears modern and spacious! But you either heat the room up to the temperature you like in the bathroom, then it is much too warm at night. Or you reduce it to bedroom temperature and then freeze when you shower! At least the ventilation in the shower at the Nesslerhof worked well, so the humidity was not an issue.
