Splatoon 3: Single Player, Part 1

Originally streamed Mar 26, 2023. Splatoon 3 improves a number of things over Splatoon 2, and yet I would probably say Splatoon 2 is the better game overall. I think the soundtrack of 2 was overall better, the single player was probably the strongest it had been. The two new characters in Splatoon 3 are a bit of a downgrade again from Marina and Pearl, who were themselves a downgrade from Callie and Marie. Of course, even with these downgrades the game is still amazing as a multiplayer shooter, still one of the best out there. The single player in some ways is a bit more fleshed out, and has amazing bosses. Yet the soundtrack is not as good as the first two, and it also feels a bit more padded this time as well; even repetitive in certain cases. It's still a really fun single player campaign, and still a good reason to buy the game. The multiplayer is very similar to Splatoon 2 with a few minor upgrades, and with the unique painting mechanics and incredible aesthetics, this remains one of the best shooters that exist.
