CEMPEDAK ISLAND INDONESIA (near Bintan) - Beach Villa Tour

Cempedak is a 17-hectare private island located 9km off the east coast of Bintan, Indonesia. Located just 91km from Singapore, the journey from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal takes approximately two and a half hours—one hour by ferry, followed by a one-and-a-half-hour car transfer. This is “simple barefoot luxury” in a sublime natural setting. Surrounded by unspoiled islands, Cempedak is one of only a handful of private islands along this beautiful coast. It is ringed with white sandy beaches and dotted with magnificent white granite boulders. Rising to a height of 40m, the island boasts a lush rainforest that provides sanctuary to a diverse population of birds, including hornbills, eagles, and kingfishers. Other residents on the island include the critically endangered pangolin and a playful family of otters. The architecture is dramatic and truly unique. Bamboo has been usedthroughout and in innovative ways, creating a striking yet harmonious design. The crescent-shaped curved roofs, made from local grass, blend seamlessly with the environment while providing protection from the elements. Each villa is handcrafted from bamboo with a traditional ‘alang alang’ grass roof and features a private plunge pool. Guests can choose between beach villas, just meters from the shore, or seaview villas with breathtaking ocean views. Privacy is guaranteed, as all villas are generously spaced out over the southern half of the island. The remainder of the island is preserved as a primary rainforest sanctuary, ensuring an untouched natural environment. There are no other hotels, restaurants, or shops—Cempedak is truly a private island escape. The beach villas offer direct access to the sand, while the seaview villas provide panoramic vistas of the ocean and surrounding deserted islands. Both have a spacious master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom upstairs, and a lounge area downstairs with a guest bathroom, a bar, a large deck, sun loungers, and a private plunge pool. The bedrooms have vaulted ceilings, bamboo ceiling fans, and king-sized beds dressed in luxurious organic cotton sheets, draped with generous mosquito nets. The ensuite master bathrooms feature solar-powered hot water showers and modern fittings set among natural stone and recycled teak. Each villa includes an iPad for contacting your host, a small safe for valuables, and excellent mobile phone reception for those who wish to stay connected. Free WiFi is also available in the villas and all public areas. To maintain its peaceful ambiance, the island has a strict policy of not allowing children under the age of 15. If you’re traveling with children, you might be interested in their sister property, Nikoi Island, another private island about 25km north of Cempedak.
