John Scott was a giant in the world of organ music and choral conducting, making his passing on 12th August 2015 still keenly felt. During his life, he inspired and supported many artists. He also had a special connection to the magnificent instruments build by Dobson organ builders on both sides of the Atlantic: Merton College Chapel, Oxford, and Saint Thomas, Fifth Avenue, New York. He played at the opening concert for the Merton organ back in 2014 and oversaw the scoping and development of the New York project, sadly never seeing the project through to completion. Here, Benjamin Sheen tells CRD Director, Emma Pauncefort about the role John played in his musical journey and why the 'In London Town' project is dedicated to him. He also shares the story behind Andrew Carter’s poignant setting, 'Lacrimae', which is released today as a world premiere recording.
