Another Bill Plympton "LOST" classic, this one is called "Boney D" and it was created in a rather unusual way. Back in 1997, Bill got a call from a director named Bruce Leddy, who was making "Bad With Numbers", a film about a high-school student who was also an aspiring animator, and then had an affair with his math teacher's wife. Bruce wanted to hire Bill to make the animated sequences that the student drew, and also invited Bill down to North Carolina to visit the set. (What Bill didn't know was that actor Jason London was going to follow him around, to maybe pick up some acting inspiration from the way a real animator would walk, talk and think. Actors do this sometimes...). Anyway, the film got released in 1999 under another title, "My Teacher's Wife", and Bill took the animated sequences he had made for that film and re-edited them into a short adventure, starring this cool cartoon dog named Boney D. This short was included on the re-edited "Mondo Plympton" DVD, Bill's second released collection of shorts, which is now out of print. So "Boney D" hasn't been seen very often as a stand-alone short film. Enjoy!
