On this episode, Erin and I travel around Thurston County, Washington, looking for evidence of a glacial ice sheet that occurred here approximately 17,000 years ago. First, we look at a glacial erratic on Oyster Bay. Second, we drive over to Spurgeon Creek Valley and ponder the valley’s creation by a glacial melt river. Third we look at an extremely large glacial erratic in the Lake Lawrence party of the county. Lastly, we drive over to the geological wonder that is the Mima Mounds Natural Area and consider whether these mounds are evidence of past glaciation. Join us as we reveal the ice age secrets of Thurston County, Washington. #geology Timecodes 0:00 - Introduction 1:34 - Kettle Lakes – Ward Lake 4:47 - Oyster Bay Glacial Erratic 8:25 - Spurgeon Creek, Glacial Melt River Valley 10:48 - Glacial Erratic Near Lake Lawrence 16:18 - Mounds Discussion 20:59 - Mima Mounds 27:43 - Outro Discussion Music Attributions: Song 1: To the Top by Silent Partner (YouTube Audio Library License, no attribution is required) Song 2: Out on My Skateboard by Mini Vandals (YouTube Audio Library License, no attribution is required) Song 3: Seasons by Telecasted (YouTube Audio Library License, no attribution is required) Song 4: The Golden Present by Jesse Gallagher (YouTube Audio Library License, no attribution is required)
