Democratic Party President and Justice Minister Norbert Mao has officially entered the race for Speaker of the 12th Parliament. He joins three other aspirants: Persis Namuganza, Anita Among, and Lydia Wanyoto Mutende. Announcing his bid, Mao said his decision is driven by a resolve to confront what he described as entrenched grand corruption, arguing that many Ugandans still lack the leverage to effectively hold those in power accountable.
