And whatever you spend of good - indeed, Allah is Knowing of it." (2;273) Imagine being in a dark tunnel trying to find your way to what you believe to be light. You find your way out of the tunnel into the light but just as you make it to the light a bunch of dark clouds cover up the light and make it seem as if you're in the dark tunnel again. This is the situation of our dear brother Abdullah Fardous and his family. As Syrian refugees who fled the war-torn country they came to America expecting to find ease and happiness. But for them it seems like they've moved from one war to another. Although they fled the physical war of bombs being dropped on them and those around them, they've now entered a financial and emotional war of living in a country where every day the entire family has to battle to make ends meet. How many times do we look for opportunities to help those in Syria and overseas? Many times we give charity to organizations who help overseas without really knowing what kind of impact our donations specifically have. With our latest Project Transform we are giving you the opportunity to help 6 Syrian refugees and to know exactly how you'll be helping. The Prophet peace be upon him said: “The most beloved of people according to Allāh is he who brings most benefit, and the most beloved of deeds according to Allāh the Mighty, the Magnificent, is that you bring happiness to a fellow Muslim, or relieve him of distress, or pay off his debt or stave away hunger from him. It is more beloved to me that I walk with my brother Muslim in his time of need than I stay secluded in the mosque for a month." If you watch the video above, you'll see that our brother Abdullah Fardous and his family are having a very difficult time paying off their rent every month. The day of the interview was truly the first really cold day that we've had this year and brother Abdullah was out all day going from store to store looking for odd jobs to make the rest of the money he needed to pay the rent that day. And every month he goes through the same thing. There are 6 people in the household and as the video described they don't receive any assistance or funds from the government or any other organizations. Our goal is to fulfill everything described in the hadith above. We want to collect a year's worth of rent for the Fardous family. This will inshallah benefit the family giving them a year buffer to try and get on their feet by taking care of their biggest and most budensome expense. During the recent campaigning for presidency we've seen many candidates discussing the notion of not allowing any refugees into America. Our response as Muslims has been to get upset and speak out against this notion. But if we're truly against this notion then we'd put our money where are mouths are and help those refugees currently living here to become proud and contributing members of our society.
