In this video, let's take a look at Sega and NEC/Hudson's attempts at maintaining technical superiority over their rivals with their CD add-ons. Compact Disc technology was cutting edge back in the early 90s. The technology had yet to become mainstream, even on PCs of the time. The CD offered many times the storage space at a fraction of the cost of game cartridges, but with a tradeoff on speed.
