#GED #GEDTest #GEDTips In this video, I give you 2 big tips for GED Math, reasoning through language arts (RLA), social studies, and science. 2 x 4 = 8 tips total! I hand-picked these tips because I strongly believe they will help you achieve a higher score on the GED test...and faster! Also in this video, my wife and I travel to Duluth, Minnesota. I filmed most of the footage you see while we were in Duluth, but I also filmed a few shots in Wisconsin. Some of the photographs you see at the beginning are photographs of Duluth that are in the public domain. Math 1. Know how to use your calculator and use it as much as you can. You can use your calculator for the majority of the test, and as long as you press the right buttons, you’ll get the answer much faster than you would by hand. In the video, I cover a simple example of a trick you can do with your calculator that will save you time and boost your score. 2. Build a foundation with the basics first, and then work on applying them to harder problems. For example, how are you going to do percent word problems if you don’t understand percent basics? Without mastering the basics, you end up with gaps in your knowledge that can and will hold you back from passing. RLA 1. Focus on reading comprehension. I’ve heard students say that most of their test was reading passages and answer questions, and not many grammar questions. Now, keep in mind that the tests are randomized, so there’s no guarantee what questions you’ll get, and grammar is still important to study, but your reading comprehension skills can make or break your score. In the video, I break down a simple but highly effective reading comprehension strategy you can use on GED RLA, social studies, and science. 2. Don’t read the full passages if you don’t have to. Always read the question first, and then I recommend just reading enough of the passage to answer that question. Sometimes you’ll have to read the full passages to get the question right, but not always, and you don’t want to waste time reading stuff that you don’t have to. And if you’re especially short on time, just read the question, and skim through the readings until you find the part that’s relevant to the question and just used that try to find the answer. Note that some questions are written to prevent you from doing this, so it won’t always work. Social Studies: 1. Facts can be proven to be true, whereas opinions are beliefs or feelings about something. You can check the record to see if a fact is true, but you can’t prove than an opinion is true or false. 2. Don’t waste time memorizing dates, names, and places. Social studies is mostly reading comprehension and doesn’t require you to know little factoids. That being said, the more knowledge you have going into the test, the easier it’s going to be. Science: 1. Temperature questions are common on GED science. In this video, I show you how to do temperature conversions from Fahrenheit to Celsius and Celsius to Fahrenheit the quick and easy way. 2. If I had to pick one topic that every test-takers should know, this one's it! You'll learn what it is in the video and how to beat these questions.
