RLA tends to be the second hardest. But everyone’s different…some people find social studies and/or science to be the hardest. -You don’t have to take all GED sections at once! Reasoning through Language Arts (RLA) -150 Minutes -3 Parts -45 minutes for the essay in part 2 RLA topics: -Reading for meaning -Identifying and creating arguments -Grammar and language Social studies: -70 minutes -1 part -Calculator allowed Science: -90 minutes -1 part -Calculators are allowed Science topics: -Reading for Meaning -Designing and Interpreting Science Experiments -Using Numbers and Graphics in Science -The GED science essay was discontinued, so don't worry about it! GED Math: -15 minutes -2 parts -No calculator and calculator Specific details about test sections may change! Please check before you test. -There’s no right or wrong order to take the test sections in. -Champions’ Combo: 1. Pick out your hardest subject -Math 2. Pick out your easiest subject -Social studies 3. Focus 80% of your study time on your easiest subject (social studies), and 20% on your hardest (math) Example: If you study for 60 minutes, spend 48 on social studies and 12 on math 4. After you pass the easiest section (social studies), repeat with the second easiest (science), and then repeat with the third easiest (RLA)... When it’s time to focus just on your hardest subject (math), you’ll already have a strong foundation -GED textbooks typically cost between $20 - $30 -You don’t have to buy one, but I recommend it if you can afford it. -I recommend getting the latest edition if possible, but any book published after 2014 will work. -GED Scoring: -Passing: score 145 -College Ready score: 165-174 -College Ready + Credit score: 175-200 -You don’t have to get a College Ready score to go to college at most schools. -The tests are randomized…so nobody can predict exactly which topics you’ll get -There are 3 different versions of each test -Your test version may differ from other peoples’ Some people may wonder if they fail, will they get the same questions again? Nobody can say for sure, but after 3 tries, there’s a good chance you’ll be taking one of the same test versions again, which would mean you are probably redoing questions you've already had. However, you'll have a waiting period after failing several times, so you might not remember the questions after the waiting time.
