Music therapy is an evidence-based clinical practice that uses music to support emotional expression, coping skills, communication, and self-regulation. In this video, we explain what music therapy is, how sessions are structured, and why it can be especially powerful during adolescence. Adolescents often struggle with big emotions, identity development, and social pressures. Music therapy gives teens a safe, creative outlet to process feelings, reduce anxiety, improve mood, and build healthy coping strategies. Whether through songwriting, listening, instrument play, or lyric analysis, music becomes a tool for growth—not just entertainment. At Bright Path, music therapy is offered as part of our teen mental health programming for ages 12–18. Licensed and credentialed clinicians use music therapeutically to support treatment goals such as emotional regulation, trauma recovery, self-esteem, peer connection, and stress reduction. If you’re a caregiver, provider, or teen interested in learning more, we’d love to talk with you about how music therapy can support mental health and healing.
