A permission visit managed and organised by NRR Tours – Thanks and a credit to Janine. We are visiting the BCIMO and the future Metro system in Dudley, all part of the very light rail test centre. About the BCIMO; The Black Country Innovative Manufacturing Organisation (BCIMO) was set up to oversee the build, launch and operation of a new Very Light Rail (VLR) national innovation centre, to be built in Dudley. Our vision is to positively transform the UK rail industry, through the creation of new and more affordable VLR transport solutions. Dudley Railway Tunnel is located near to the former Dudley railway station in Dudley, Birmingham in the United Kingdom. Originally opening in 1850 to allow the Oxford-Worcester-Wolverhampton Line between Stourbridge and Wolverhampton to pass for several hundred yards beneath the hills of Dudley. At Dudley the Oxford-Worcester-Wolverhampton Line and South Staffordshire Line to Walsall met. The tunnel was regularly used by passenger trains until 1964, when the town's station closed along with the remaining passenger stations on the line. The railway line through Dudley is scheduled to reopen in 2023 as part of an extension to the West Midlands Metro. The former Blowers Green Railway Station, opening in 1878 by the Great Western Railway intending to serve the growing communities of Woodside and Netherton. Being Renamed in around 1881 to Dudley Southside & Netherton, as it replaced Netherton station to the south. Passenger numbers were good, and the station name was reverted to Blowers Green in 1921 and remained operational as a passenger station until closure to the public in 1962. Passenger trains still ran to Dudley on this section until 1964 when the line became solely freight until complete closure in 1993. @TrekkingExploration / trekkingtowpaths Sandsend Tunnel Explore; • The Collapsing Sandsend Tunnel Explor...
