I Never Recommend Used Motorcycles: Here's Why...

So much great feedback on the last couple “best ADV bikes for beginners” videos, but a few of you asked, and rightfully so, why I never recommend used adventure or dual sport bikes in those lists. (affiliate link) No, it’s not because I’m such a hoity toity influencer that I forgot that used bikes exist. I actually have a few very specific reasons for leaning toward recommending new adventure motorcycles and new dual sport bikes for new riders. There are several reasons why I recommend buying a used adventure bike and avoiding buying a new motorcycle: 1. Consistency. All new motorcycles are the same. All used motorcycles are NOT. 2. Selection: At a dealership, you can check out a ton of new bikes all at once. 3. Reliability and Warranty Support: when buying a used motorcycle, you have no idea what kind of maintenance or reliability issues it might have. New bikes are guaranteed to work. 4. Cross Shopping: shopping for a new motorcycle at a dealership is a great way to get your eyes on multiple bikes at once and do some new motorcycle comparison. 5. New motorcycle riders don't know what they want or need. 6. Motorcycle dealerships offer on site financing and make the transaction simpler.
