Homily 2.5.2026 / Thursday of the 4th Week in Ordinary Time

Reading from the first Book of Kings (2:1-4, 10-12): When David was near death, he gave these instructions to his son Solomon: “I am about to go the way of all flesh. Take courage and be a man. Keep the charge of the Lord, your God, walking in his ways and keeping his statutes, commandments, ordinances, and decrees, as they are written in the law of Moses, so that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you go, and that the Lord may fulfill the promise he made to me: ‘If your sons take heed to their way, walking faithfully before me with all their heart and with all their soul, you shall not lack a successor on the throne of Israel.’” David rested with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David. He reigned over Israel forty years: seven years in Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem. Solomon succeeded him on the throne, and his kingdom was firmly established. Second Reading Gospel Reading of the holy Gospel according to Saint Mark (6:7-13): At that time, Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over unclean spirits. He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick, no food, no sack, no money in their belts. They were, however, to wear sandals but not a second tunic. He said to them, “Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that place. Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you, leave there and shake the dust off your feet in testimony against them.” So they went off and preached repentance. They drove out many demons, and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them. The Word of the Lord
