This video case study features an explosive chimney demolition project which took place at Riverside Mill in Leeds. Bagnall UK acted as principle contractor and managed this project of the mechanical demolition of out buildings and the demolition by explosives of the 53 metre high brick work chimney. A project of this nature and complexity require careful, detailed planning and coordination from our senior management who were directly involved from the outset. Every aspect of this project was expertly managed by the team, from selection of the Bagnall personnel and of the specialist explosive experts, to mobilisation on site. As elements of this work were highly dangerous we had to ensure the site was very secure and set up an exclusion zone of 160 metres. Communication and co operation was the key to success on this project. The site manager visited and issued leaflets to all neighbouring houses and farms about the upcoming programme of works. We carefully segregated all material and 98% was recycled. On the completion of the project we achieved a customer satisfaction rating of 97%, reflecting our commitment to the quality of delivery of the technical and potentially dangerous project.
