Twenty Riley R.M. cars and over forty Riley R.M. Club members enjoyed a long weekend on the Isle of Man in 2008. Richard Oliver made this film with a very laid back and humorous commentary. Here is Part 3 which is of great historical interest to Riley people. During the visit to Mylchreests Garage, Mr Brian Mylchreest gave a fascinating talk on the history of the Mylchreest / Riley Company connection through the 1940's and 1950's. Brian was over 90 years old at the time of the R.M. Club's visit and knew the Riley management of the time personally. He was also the 'Open and Close Roads' driver for the TT races and often used Riley RM's with well known personalities as passengers. He also showed us some period photographs of the RM's used at the races on display. Apologies for the poor sound quality of this part of the film, as the talk was given in the car showroom with bad acoustics. However we felt it was well worth including. Don't miss Part 1 of the film where we see the Group, among other things, settling in, touring the Island visiting a motorcycle museum (of course), the town of Ramsey and the reception at Mylchreests Garage, the Riley Dealership on the island at the time when the RM's were being sold. Don't miss Part 2 either, which covers the rest of the weekend touring the Island and the display of the cars at the Mount Murray Hotel and Country Club. Special thanks to Richard Oliver for making this film available to the Riley R.M. Club. Also to Gordon (Nobby) Clarke, the Riley R.M. Club Social Secretary at the time, who organised the weekend. The talk by Brian Mylchreest is with the kind permission of David Mylchreest. For more information about the Riley RM Club and the cars visit the Riley R.M.
