What does balancing large rocks on end, to hang suspended in a gravity defying pose, have to do with balancing the skills, values and overarching vision to create high performing teams? Surprisingly, quite a lot. Dr. Michael Ackerbauer weaves the common threads together, to include the skill of listening, grounding on firm foundations, visioning, trust and empowerment. It is true that any two rocks may balance over time, and any team will function together eventually. However, it takes selecting the right rocks to align and the right people to collaborate together to make the perfect, or even ‘delightful’ outcome, whether on the New England costal shores, or the boardrooms of corporate America. For all organizations, high performing teams are essential to organizational performance and organizational success. Michael Ackerbauer is a Business Transformation Leader for IBM, where he partners with organizational leaders to humanize their digital transformation. A seasoned innovator and intrapreneur, Michael makes complex concepts easy to understand and simple to apply. He holds a master’s degree in Applied Imagination and a doctorate in Creative Leadership. Talk Focus area: Team Development. Building perfect teams can happen, but it needs skills of leaders who listen and engage with the team. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
