March 13, 2026 | Ireland House Museum Tour, Early Settlers’ Homestead When the second Friday the 13th of the year decided to drop a blanket of snow on us, we changed plans and headed somewhere indoors — the historic Ireland House Museum. Located in Burlington, this beautifully preserved early settlers’ homestead tells the story of the Ireland family, who lived here across three distinct historical periods as Burlington grew and evolved around them. Inside the house, rooms have been carefully restored to reflect different eras of the home’s history, offering a fascinating look at how daily life changed for generations of one family. From period furnishings and historic artifacts to stories of settlement and community, Ireland House provides a rare glimpse into Burlington’s early development. Surprisingly, this was my first time visiting, and apparently this is a commonly heard revelation by the museum staff! It turned out to be a wonderful way to spend a snowy afternoon exploring local history.
