How to Make an End Grain Bowl. Beginner Woodturning Projects

In this video, I’ll show you step-by-step how I turned an end grain ash wood bowl into a stunning masterpiece! Using my Harvey T60S wood lathe and carbide tools from Easy Wood Tools, I created a unique piece with bold colours and a flawless finish. Here’s how I did it: Filled cracks with a mixture of Samurai Black mica powder from Eye Candy Pigments and 5-minute epoxy for a striking contrast. Decorated the outside by applying Hampshire Sheen Black Stain, sanding it back to highlight the soft grain, and layering it with Flame intrinsic colours for a vibrant effect. Finished the outside with Hampshire Sheen High Gloss Wax for a polished look. On the inside, I used Yorkshire Grit abrasive paste and Hampshire Sheen High Gloss Wax to achieve a silky-smooth finish. This project highlights the beauty of ash wood and the creative possibilities of combining epoxy, mica powder, stains, and wax finishes.
