Known errors in this video: In this video I state that total peripheral resistance does not change much during aerobic exercise. This is not true for intense exercise like that depicted on the systolic, diastolic, and mean arterial blood pressure graph. In fact total peripheral resistance would decrease some even in low intensity exercise. What I was alluding to was the fact that most of the body is vasoconstricted and the active skeletal muscle is vasodilated. These two actions oppose each other in their impact on total peripheral resistance. If most of the body did not vasoconstrict during exercise the drop in total peripheral resistance would be extreme, especially in intense exercise. In fact, it would likely lead to unsafe blood pressure and blood flow issues if this were to happen. So to summarize: Total peripheral resistance does decrease during aerobic exercise, but not as much as it would if most of the bodily tissues did not vasoconstrict while the active muscle vasodilates.
