Speaking in the Oval Office Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced the sixth generation of American military fighter jets: the F-47. After a tight race between Lockheed Martin and Boeing, the latter aircraft manufacturer was awarded the contract to build the U.S. Air Force’s Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) family of systems. Trump said the F-47 will fly with "many, many drones," describing it as "something the likes that no one has seen before.” The Republican leader later took questions from media, addressing topics relating to tariffs, his hopes to absorb Canada as the 51st U.S. state and further dispelling reports that Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) head Elon Musk was visiting the Pentagon for a presentation about theoretical war plan against China.
