How to make Naked Eggs | Live Experiments (Ep 14) | Head Squeeze

Science communicator Huw James shows us how easy it is to make naked eggs at home. He also shares his top tip on how to quickly test if an egg is boiled or not.   IMPORTANT: You will need one sober adult with a sense of scientific wonder to carry out this experiment. We don't want anyone getting hurt.   What you need to get started with these experiments are: A few eggs, a tablespoon, up to 750ml of white vinegar, a large jar, a tea light, a lighter and a glass of water.   Naked Eggs 1. Pour 750ml of white vinegar into your jar. 2. Now use your table spoon to gently drop your 3 eggs into your jar (You can also use tongs to do this as well). 3. Put the lid on your jar and leave to your eggs until their shells have fully dissolved. This should take between 24 - 48 hrs. 4. You should now be able to see through your eggs. 5. Take the eggs out and take a close look at them. You can also gently bounce them on a smooth surface. Mirror on Egg 1. Get an adult to light your tea candle. 2. Get them to hold the shell up against the flame to blacken the egg. Do this until half the surface area of the egg is blackened. 3. Now gently drop your egg into a glass of water. 4. This should create a makeshift mirror, so you can see your reflection.
