This year is the 40th anniversary of one of the biggest news events to hit Guernsey. In 1978, the Orion Oil Rig Disaster prompted a major rescue operation in appalling weather conditions off the Guernsey coast. The rig came loose and drifted onto Grandes Rocques with thirty-three crew still on board. And ITV's first ever female camera operator, Ros Henry, was first on the scene.
