We’re a bunch of geeks who play TTRPGs and sometimes chat about everything under the Sun. ~ SUPPORT / dreadlore INFORMATION https://geekygamerpodcast.vercel.app MEDIA PRODUCTION http://www.couchfiremedia.com MUSIC all lowercase letters (Spotify, IG, TikTok) mr interrupt (Spotify) In this episode of the Geeky Gamer Podcast, the crew of the Nova Espero — Mark Zero (played by Sketch), Glenn Space (played by Ken), and Arthur "Gunny" Scollet (played by John) — find themselves in a high-stakes standoff with a boarding party from Campus Station.Scene and Location Descriptions Airlock and Bridge (0:00 - 1:13) The crew is in geostationary orbit over the purple planet, Campus B, near Campus Station. Tensions are high as a dropship from the station, carrying a man named Mr. Fitz (who resembles a "mafioso" in a business suit) and six armed guards, attaches to the Nova Espero. Gunny stands guard at the airlock with a pulse rifle, while Glenn uses his hacking skills to send filtered data and video to the station to prove they were defending themselves against a biological outbreak. Meanwhile, Mark Zero remains in the cockpit, wounded and bleeding from a previous encounter. The Reactor and Storage Rooms (1:13 - 1:56) As negotiations with Mr. Fitz continue, Gunny moves toward the back of the ship, passing through Stow Room 1 and Stow Room 2, which are in a state of wreck with storage containers knocked over and flickering lights. He eventually reaches the Reactor Room. While exploring the reactor area, Gunny hears a "metal on metal" clanking sound that no one else seems to notice. Hangar Bay and Dropship (1:56 - 2:24) The situation shifts as the crew prepares to potentially abandon the Nova Espero. Glenn moves to the hangar bay to program Ian (the ship’s AI). Arthur begins collecting bombs he had previously set up as traps, while Mark Zero and other NPCs like Ivy Dukes, Shereice, and Jackson Berry prepare for a quick exit. Roger, an NPC, is sent to the captain’s cabin to retrieve supplies (specifically "booze") before they leave. Nuclear Detonation and the Apparition (2:24 - 2:42) While Mark Zero is outside looking for hostiles, he witnesses a blinding flash of light from the port side—a nuclear detonation near the station. Back at the reactor, Gunny experiences a chilling encounter in the dark: a "sweet saccharine" female voice whispers to him, and he sees a ghostly apparition with flowing red hair and porcelain skin—the same evolved "vampire zombie" creature that previously attacked the ship. The creature eventually floats through the bulkhead and disappears. Loss of Power and Control (2:42 - 2:55) The nuclear blast triggers a massive EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) that ripples through the Nova Espero. All systems instantly fail; the lights go out, and the ship's safety systems for the reactor and FTL drive reset into a low-power red-light mode. The ship begins to spin uncontrollably, leaving the crew disoriented in zero gravity. Glenn attempts to troubleshoot the fried systems, but the dropship is powerless, and communication is completely severed. As Arthur regains his bearings and looks out, he realizes the catastrophic scale of the event: the space station has been broken into pieces, and its massive ring is shattered.
