On my most recent trip to Paris, I decided to go back to Joel Robuchon in Paris and have a beautiful tasting menu dinner. Unfortunately, Joel Robuchon passed away but he is still today one of the best known, most iconic French chefs who holds the prestigious title of the most awarded Michelin star chefs. Joel Robuchon won 36 Michelin stars across his portfolio of restaurants from Las Vegas, Paris, and Japan...just to name a few. In 2003, he came out of retiring and opened up his chain of “Atelier” restaurants. The idea, he wrote in his cookbook “L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon” (2006), was “a little place, with 15 or 20 seats, one or two people at the stoves, with a spontaneous, healthy cuisine based on what the chef finds at the market every day.” The concept of L'Atelier was unheard of at the time. An open concept kitchen? Diners watching the chefs prepare their meals? It was a massive hit and took the culinary world by storm. The New York Joel Robuchon Atelier was a New York Times Food section's darling and received exceptional reviews. I loved both of his New York restaurants. However today we're going to the Paris restaurant specifically L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon at Etoile (Champs-Elysee) and doing the signature tasting menu. The chef has suggestions for the Signature Tasting Menu (ie the creative dishes that Joel Robuchon is famous for) but you can also swap out dishes based off of your dietary preferences or taste buds. I switched out one of the signature dishes for his out of this world beef and foie gras sliders :) Overall, it was a wonderful experience and if you haven’t gone it’s worth a stop. If and when I go back instead of the tasting menu, I’ll probably opt for a la carte and get my favorite dishes which were without a doubt the lobster ravioli and the burger sliders. I hope you enjoy this style of video and as always if you have any questions and/or comments pls share in the comment box below. Thank you! Music by Epidemic Sounds
