Sin Now Coming into the World (Cain, Abel, and cities)

Humanity tries to live out their vocations as creators in working the world and being fruitful and multiplying. Cain is born and works the field; Abel is born and raises livestock. However, sin corrupts so Cain withholds returning God the best God gives to Cain, and blames Abel because Abel lives more faithfully than himself. Cain murders Abel, and Abel's shed blood demands Cain's blood in execution. The Lord shows Cain mercy in allowing to live, so Cain lives away from proper faith in God by constructing a city. Instead of living solely off the land, he retreats into a walled-off creation he has made.
