Avro Shackleton MK.III engine start and run ✈️
The Avro Shackleton is a British long-range maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) which was used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) and the South African Air Force (SAAF). Developed in the 1950s for anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and search-and-rescue missions. Building on the earlier Shackleton designs, the Mk.3 featured a stretched fuselage, an additional dorsal fin for stability, and tricycle landing gear for improved ground handling. Powered by four Rolls-Royce Griffon engines, its distinctive growl earned it the nickname "Growler." With a crew of up to ten, the Shackleton Mk.3 could operate for over 14 hours, making it a critical asset for Cold War surveillance and monitoring missions. Its rugged design and versatility cemented its place in aviation history.
