Greetings Everyone ! Here is a NEW #REGGAE #DUB selection from my collection... 🔈🔉🔊 For this selection I choose from my collection tracks related to KING TUBBY THE DUB INVENTOR and his assistants. Around the mid-1970s, King Tubby, the legendary figure of Jamaican dub, is said to have stopped mixing tracks himself, delegating this task to his assistants. However, tracks continued to be released on vinyl under the prestigious “King Tubby’s” studio, making it difficult to identify who was actually behind each mix. Philipp Smart, one of his most renowned assistants, openly admits he can no longer recall all the tracks he worked on: “I can’t remember everything I did.” What is undeniable, though, is that this selection reflects the vibrant creativity of the studio located at 18 Dromilly Avenue, in Waterhouse, Kingston. Some tracks were mixed by King Tubby himself, while others carry the unique touch of his talented assistants, including Pat Kelly, Philipp Smart, Prince Jammy, and Scientist. Together, they crafted a sonic revolution that would forever mark the history of reggae. This compilation also highlights key collaborations with renowned producers and artists such as Derrick Harriott, Niney The Observer, Harry Mudie, Ian & Roger Lewis, Augustus Pablo, Lee Perry, Michael Campbell, Yabby You, Linval Thompson, and Bunny Lee. These partnerships showcase the far-reaching influence of King Tubby on Jamaica’s musical ecosystem. Among the vocal versions, you’ll find unforgettable performances by Dennis Brown, Yabby You & Dickie Burton, Horace Andy, Earl Zero, Johnny Clarke, Jacob Miller, Rod Taylor, Barry Brown, Cornel Campbell, Wayne Jarrett, Jah Stitch, Linval Thompson, and The Heptones. Each interpretation seems infused with King Tubby’s innovative and visionary spirit. The final track in this selection, Dub Organizer, performed by Johnny Osbourne, is taken from the tribute album A Salute to King Tubby. 🔅Hope you will enjoy this 2 hours musical journey of positive reggae dub vibes !
