Tunstall takes a Battering

It has been a month since Dave took a walk down to the beach at Tunstall, East Yorkshire. There have been a lot of storms so far this Autumn and some very high tides as well. So I thought I would take a look at how the beach has changed and how it is changing. I was amazed at the height of the waves for a start. The rollers were coming in thick and fast, some of them must have been eight feet high and most of them were reaching the base of the cliffs. I managed to get some great film of the waves beating against the cliff face. After seeing the waves hitting the cliffs it is easy to understand why this part of the coast has lost so much land over the centuries. I even managed to get a shot of waves breaking over a low cliff. You can see the water rushing down a slope into a low lying basin. The basin is below sea level and once the cliff is breached there will be a real salt water lagoon. I love watching the waves and the sea. But the breakers on this day were ferocious so I was glad I was safely on dry(ish) land watching and not in amongst it.
