BPPV & How the (modified) Epley Works

BPPV is the most common cause of dizziness across the lifespan and the modified Epley is commonly used to treat it. In this video we use a 3D fluid filled model to demonstrate what actually happens anatomically when this maneuver is performed. We like using the term "modified Epley", as technically the Epley maneuver requires steps like vibration and the use of a soft neck collar, which have not been found vital in maximizing the treatment outcomes. Of note, the modified Epley is great for treating the canalithiasis form of BPPV affecting the posterior canal and there are other forms of BPPV that will not benefit from the modified Epley.
