Am I the only one who still calls him Kotonowaka half the time?? Either way, the Ozeki makes both namesakes proud with his first yusho after several years of close attempts. While his size might be deceiving, Kotozakura comes with impressive adaptability, maneuvering his wide frame to mirror his opponent while utilizing whatever method necessary to take them down. A year ago I would've said he's got the best defensive sumo in the division, and that if only he'd go on the attack he'd be unstoppable...well what can I say but mission accomplished. I consider him a stellar beltfighter by nature, but the array of thrusts, slapdowns and throws he's going for these days is really just what he needed to be a hard man to strategize against and a consistently formidable opponent, no matter the foe. While I'm gutted for Hoshoryu, I'm by no means disappointed that Kotozakura was the one beating him to the cup. Yokozuna, here we come...? Cheers and enjoy!
