We need to create communities of faith that are safe to be sources of spiritual healing. If that is going to happen then the community must maintain a deep and abiding sense of unity. We must be one with one another. Pastoral preaching works hard to nurture unity in community. God gifted the church with pastors and teachers, Paul tells us in Ephesians 4:11-13: “For the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.” Unity does not require uniformity. We do not have to be clones of one another nor do we have to agree with one another on everything. Unity is not unanimity. In fact, unanimity can be the enemy of true unity. We are different. Building a community means building our commonality amidst disparity. We are one though we are different. That is community. Unity expresses itself in community. Want to learn more? After their seminary years in Indiana, God led them back to northern New England in 1984, where David has served in the dual ministries of pastor and teacher for 30 years. They live in Maine and have two adult daughters. Our Mission: to mobilize, equip and encourage pastors worldwide with a blueprint for expositional preaching that produces Christlike believers by the power of the Holy Spirit to the glory of God. Our Vision: to develop a team of experienced expositors to equip pastors globally through workshops, cohorts and online resources while partnering with other like-minded organizations to stimulate a movement of the church back to the expositional preaching of God’s Word.
