If one wanted to summarise the aim of the Open Life Science Publication Database OLSPub in a nutshell, it would most likely be the following: OLSPub will ensure easy access to life science literature by providing a resilient, open source piece of infrastructure by the life science community for the life science community. It was in May 2025 that we at ZB MED first reached out to the public with our plan to develope an open, sustainable and realiable alternative to PubMed to strengthen the resilience and independece of the life sciences research infrastructure. The new platform OLSPub (Open life science publication database) will not only secure the current content of PubMed, but will also be continuously expandable - with a familiar search interface, open interfaces, automatic metadata enrichment and as an open source solution. A lot has happened since then. The funding application was submitted to the DFG, and above all, we have received a lot of encouragement and support from the community. In this recording of the information event on September 25th, 2025, Dr. Miriam Albers one of the project leaders presents the planned project and provides an update on the current status and the latest developments.
