Field Notes Friday: Martin's Brook Update

This week Jason Berard, VP of Stewardship, was out at UVLT's Martin's Brook Conservation Area in Lebanon, NH to check on the forestry work that has been completed in the 5 acre portion of the property that is under an avigation easement with the Lebanon Airport. Back in October 2025, Jason explained the background on this avigation easement and the partnership between UVLT, the Lebanon Conservation Commission, and the Lebanon Airport. The work that was completed this winter was to help the Lebanon Airport achieve their necessary airspace safety goals for their runway project, while at the same time helping UVLT succeed in our habitat goals for the property. As the tree work was conducted to create safe airspace in this 5 acre area, the contractors cut down the trees they needed to in a way to create as much structural diversity in the forest as possible to benefit the wildlife habitats.
